After a break that lasted much too long, I'm trying to get some serious painting time in before I have to pack up the workshop for the winter (it probably isn't likely, but I am terrified of my paints freezing). This week, I tackled a Frost Giant (really a Firbolg, but hey, don't tell me what colors to use, this is a medium of expression!), a Roper and a grizzled Orc spearman for my rather neglected Orc army.
I didn't think these were particularly exciting paint jobs until I was looking at some of my older stuff. This Frostie is so much better than my previous one it isn't funny (also not technically a Frost Giant, which is maybe part of the problem). Unlike him, my old Orcs have a pretty good baseline but even though this guy is kind of monochromatic, he's much lighter and has a bunch of nice tones in his leathers (the photo doesn't really reproduce that so well, FYI). Whoever said that you get better with every miniature really wasn't lying! (New ones on the left) |
