The Geraldine Harris book is part of the World Mythology series, which I should probably make an additional list for, but the Anne Terry White book looks promising, thank you!

Oh man! I checked this out of the library as a young, Ghostbusters obsessed kid, and it creeped me out so much I never finished reading it. For years, I have wanted to rectify that but had no memory of the exact title and only vague memories of the cover having a white background. However, the first interior image you used remains burned in my memory. So glad to have finally solved this mystery. Now to track down a copy.

Allow me to share with you the 2 most influential mythology books from my youth, which I discovered in my local library and largely shaped my interest in the topic:

The Golden Treasury of Myths and Legends by Anen Terry White, illustrated by Alice and Martin Provensen. Really love the almost medieval illustrations in this one.

Gods and Pharaohs from Egyptian Mythology by Geraldine Harris, illustrated by David O'Connor and John Sibbick. Very different visually with beautiful black and white illustrations and full colour paintings.

Hi Stu, may I further complicate your day by adding one of my favourite books growing up and largely responsible for my enduring interest in Ancient Egypt: Gods and Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt by Geraldine Harris and David O'Connor. I discovered this book in my local library as a child, along with another book on myths and heroes that I rmember vividly but for the life of me can't find online

The artwork of everything trying to eat everything else is amazing. It kind of reminds me of the gonzo "Men's Adventure!" type magazines from the 1950s, the ridiculous ones depicting men fighting off killer turtles with a Bowie knife, that sort of thing. I guess danger and blood sells!

Why, why, why is there no reprint?!?!

Nate Treme is such an interesting designer. How he’s able to credit such tight, succinct RPGs - and give them their own low-fi art vide.

His Tunnel Goons is genius!
