]]> Back in 1985, Olmec Toys was founded to provide a line of diverse heroes in the mode of Masters of the Universe — this was directly inspired by owner Yla Eason’s son asking for a Black He-Man. The result was the Sun Man line of toys and the villain of the line is Pig-Head. Pig-Head is exactly what his name says: a guy with a pig head. In other words, an Orc.

Not only an Orc, but the most garishly day-glo Orc ever conceived. The neon yellow/green with dark blue and hot pink is one of the most powerful villain palettes I have ever encountered. If he showed up in the background of Lo-Pan’s subterranean neon mall temple, I would be zero surprised.

Two version here. The bow-legged one is the modern version of the original toy, released as part of the official He-Man Masterverse along with Sun Man and Space Sumo (pretty cool they are now officially part of the line, I think). The big guy is the Mattel version of an Ultimate, featuring a more realistic sculpt. I find them both charming in different ways and, even if he isn’t intended to play off the idea of the pig-faced orc, I see him as a testament to how fantasy tropes like that leak into the mainstream over time.
