Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Adventures! is, you guessed it, the first book of scenarios for TMNT and Other Strangeness, from 1986. There are five adventures, some optional rules (including cross-over rules for using Heroes Unlimited superpowers, which seems like a game-changer), a 10-page comic and lots and lots of Eastman and Laird art.

The adventures themselves are…not very good in the best way possible? I don’t think they really hold up to modern standards, but they have a kind of infectious zest. I don’t want to run any of them and I kind of feel like there was a little bit of uncertainty yet as to what the TMNT RPG was supposed to be, but it remains a fun read. How can you complain about a scenario centered on a secret mutant bear raised by fundamental Christians who passes for human and fronts a rock band called The 666? I love the fact that the scenario states The 666 “is actually a good band,” and further adds that the members, “are all fairly nice guys and care about each other.”
