Tower of the Black Sorcerers (2018) is the first module by Dungeoneers Guild Games. They specialize in low plot scenarios for first edition Dungeons & Dragons.

By low plot, I don’t mean no plot. The module focuses on one very thoroughly thought out location – the titular tower of an evil mage. The NPC motivations are clearly defined (primarily the worship of a spidery demi-god and some internecine plotting), as are a couple recent events (a kidnapping). So while there isn’t a defined plot, the makings for several emergent ones are baked right in. You’ll be hard pressed to not start doing the necessary calculations to insert the scenario into your ongoing campaign.

A lot of the appeal comes from the art. Russ Nicholson is always going to get a cheer out of me, but I quite like the work of the other artists as well – Bradley K. McDevitt (who also handles the cover), Matthew Ray and Ryan Jack Allred.

All in all, a solid first effort.
