Sigh. Not sure why I did this to myself when the GrailQuest and Lone Wolf books are literally on the same shelf, but here we go with some more Endless Quest gamebooks. This is the sixth: Revenge of the Rainbow Dragons (1983). Its terrible!

Well, OK, this one has a unique problem contributing to it being terrible: it is the sequel to one of the best books in the series, Pillars of Pentegarn. In fact, I think it is the only sequel in the entire series (aside of, like, the Conan and Buck Rogers books). But this book pitches everything that made the original good: the slightly grim tone, the supporting characters (who can die grisly deaths), even Pentegarn is missing. But not your animal sidekicks. Oh no. You cant have an Endless Quest book without annoying sidekicks. Anyway, you get arrested for practicing magic without a license and have to face off against three annoying evil wizards as your punishment. I don’t honestly recall how the dragons figure in. All I know is that I find the interior illustrations of them vomiting their breath weapon unpleasant to look at. Harry Quinn’s art is otherwise fine, if unexciting. There is a rust monster, at least. I quite like Easley’s cover art, too. I didn’t have this one as a kid though, so the lack of the warm embrace of nostalgia does this one no favors.
