The Unspeakable Oath #7

I am pretty sure The Unspeakable Oath issue 7 (Fall, 1992) is the first one I bought (in fall of 1992), after which I snagged the previous back issues. This one marks a big step up in production quality, with professional printing and binding and just a generally more pro feel throughout. There is a lot of good stuff in here, more COC 5.5 rules, guidance for playing in the 1930s, lots of detail on a cult, the Last Dawn, that is designed as a foil for the Randolph Pierce Foundation described in the previous issue.

Most noteworthy is Tynes’ scenario “Convergence,” which is the first introduction to Delta Green (and the first part of a cross-genre collaboration with Interface, a Cyberpunk zine). It introduces the government organization, but also the main opponent for the 90s, the Grey aliens, a whole year before X-Files!

Great cover by Blair Reynolds, really love that background monster. Lots of neat art throughout this issue, too, by Jason Bov’ee, David Brown and Jesper Myrfors.
