Russel Marcks Paints!

I have several pounds of old lead that I have neither the skill nor patience to try and paint, so a while back, I asked some of my followers who have ample amounts of both to take a crack at some. And this week, because the results are awesome, I’m sharing them with you! These are the work of Russel Marcks!

Russell didn’t know it, but that first mini is, as someone who usually plays a rogue, my favorite miniature. And also one of my first. I was a little hesitant to send him away to get his crappy all-black Testors model paint stripped away after all these years. But holy wow, talk about unexpected color choices. Never in a million years would I have thought to paint that cloak purple, but I sure do love it. The brush technique (dry brush, I think?) that makes it look like an illustration is pretty sharp too. Anyway, he is an assassin by Julie Guthrie, for her Personalities line for Grenadier.

Next up is another mystery monster. Haven’t a clue what it is, kind of suspect it is Ral Partha, but wouldn’t be surprised if it was one of the weirder Grenadier critters. If you can ID, lemme know. Super into the glowing eye effect.

Finally, we’ve got Julie Guthrie’s wraith, also from her Grenadier Personalities line. Russell’s got some very nice lighting effects going on here. I appreciate the choice to not go with red eyes.
