Crystal Spheres (1990) returns to the format of the narrative-focused event crawl, a la Wildspace. Sort of a shockingly mundane Brom painting on the cover. Handsome there is also by Brom; that’s T’lann, a Toril-born vampire who is the villain of the piece. He’s trying to extinguish a sun. I’m down for a space vampire, but Lifeforce this is not.

A number of rather stupid crystal sphere are introduced in the module. The first is (sigh) Herospace. Only proven heroes can live there. There are nine planets, one for each alignment. The neutral planet is called Ge’Neva. Next stop: Faeriespace, a giant tree in space from which hang many fruits (suns) and some planets, and a big city. The four upper planets are called Upgood, and I hate it. It gets worse! Next is Greatspace, a solar system dedicated to honor, nobility and the veneration of the Greek Gods. Currently, the vampire has shrouded the system’s sun in a Continual Darkness spell and, honestly, I’d leave it. T’lann, incidentally, lives in Darkspace which is, you guessed it, dark. I guess he’s franchising it out.
Worse than all these daft spheres is the fact that it is never clear how they connect with each other (or, maybe it is: my copy doesn’t have the poster map, but I kinda doubt it makes things any clearer) and the spheres already detailed in other products. And, I mean, not mourning the loss or anything, but none of these places ever come up again, either. What were they thinking?

Also, in that interior pic T’lann seems to be wearing both a skirt AND pants, which seems like a lot. But I guessiof he’s a space vampire, mayb he’s a bit extra.
I have a soft spot for the Great Tree Faerie sphere. It has a certain Yggdrasil flair that I like.
Also, more space Vampires in everything please
