I suppose it was only a matter of time before Spelljammer produced a thinly veiled re-enactment of Star Wars, but I am surprised it was this early in the line’s history. This is Under the Dark Fist (1991).

So, there are twelve conquered spheres in the Vodoni empire and Emperor Vulkaran the Dark wants three more: the spheres containing Greyhawk, Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms. Players organize an Alliance of free people on the Rock of Bral after encountering a Vodoni scout and sussing out the imminent invasion plans. I should note that the vodoni are variant werewolves and their ships are weird crosses between wolves and manta rays. Oh, and their emperor is a maeder, a male medusa?

Anyway, the players go check out Vodoni space, then the war starts in earnest and it’s a pretty typical event crawl. There’s a prison planet and the emperor’s crystal flag ship, Surprise! The neogi that are part of the alliance betray you. I bet you didn’t see that coming! It’s all kind of a snooze, really.

Brom on the cover. I like the main piece. Baxa inside, but not nearly enough of him. Too much text describing features of Wild Space that would never come up again. Pretty typical for the line at this point.
