The “D&D and its shadows” comment… was that “shadows” or “Shadows”? I immediately thought of Zelazny’s Amber and I think that’s a brilliant way to talk about D&D and its many Shadows which resemble it but are different in some or even many ways but remain Shadows of the original.
That’s immediately what I thought of, and yea, brilliant way to contextualize D&D derivative games. As the show notes mention, it was Epidiah Ravachol who I had seen saying it, but he doesn’t know if he coined it or it came from elsewhere.
