The Unspeakable Oath #6

The Unspeakable Oath issue six (Summer, 1992), the most ambitious to date (and probably would be remembered as the one to snag if not for issue seven). In it, as it says on the cover, are their modifications for the just release fifth edition of Call of Cthulhu. The whole issue is devoted to it. The idea is to give players more options and to make Call of Cthulhu more suited to long term campaign play. This is accomplished by introducing a central organization, the Randolph Pierce Foundation, which can bankroll investigators, provide assistance and ensure continuity should everyone die. This feels like a proto-Delta Green!

Very cool cover by Blair Reynolds. I am not sure I understand his thing with multi-armed, mutilated tentacle people (this echoes issue four’s cover and the cover to the 8/9 double issue) but it sure has vibes. Also enjoy Jesper Myrfors’ paintings for COC 5.5.
