Dragon Magazine #14

Here’s Dragon Magazine 14, from May, 1978. It is one of a small pile of Dragons recently sent to me by Scott AKA droste.kneebreaker (thanks again!). This one features a cover by Steve Oliff, who has had a pretty wild career in comics, primarily as a colorist. His biggest moment was probably being chosen by Katsuhiro Otomo to color Akira for Epic Comics’ American edition (1988) of the series – it was the first ongoing series to utilize computer coloring and marked a huge sea change for how comics were made going forward.

Inside, as you can guess from the cover, is mostly aimed at sci-fi games. The stand outs for me, though, are the reviews for the board game Nomad Gods and Cosmic Encounter. The pains taken in the latter to distinguish “game” from “simulation” is a super interesting glimpse into the priorities of the moment.
