Jay Griffiths Paints!

I have several pounds of old lead that I have neither the skill nor patience to try and paint, so a while back, I asked some of my followers who have ample amounts of both to take a crack at some. And this week, because the results are awesome, I’m sharing them with you! These are the work of Jay Griffiths!

First up, we have a dwarf champion from Grenadier’s Fantasy Lords line. He’s a burly little dude and I really appreciate a dwarf that doesn’t use an ax.

The absolute unit in the middle is an amazing Grenadier minotaur by Julie Guthrie, another one of my long time favorite minis.

The third one is…a…bat winged snake? I have no clue, really, and had no success tracking it down. I thiiiiink it is Ral Partha, but I didn’t think to note the maker stamp before I sent it out, so it remains a mystery. If you can ID it, let me know!

Of the four folks who painted minis for me, I think Jay’s style hews closest to the classic look I’d expect to see in period ads and catalogs and, well, there is a reason I call that classic. When I got his box in the mail, I really began to appreciate just how wide the range of potential styles. Which, of course. But again, when you aren’t painting minis, you don’t think of that. That everyone who took part in this little project has such obviously distinct approaches to what they are doing is probably the coolest thing to see.
