You ever, over the course of decades, buy just about everything a company published, leaving only the stuff you don’t really care about, but then you but that stuff too, because you’re a completionist with questionable judgment?

This is the Elfquest RPG box set from Chaosium (1984). I have zero interest in Wendy and Richard Pini’s comic series (it always felt super 70s to me, but in a bad way). I bought it because I found it for cheap and, well, you already read the first paragraph.

It is another Chaosium game based on the Basic Roleplaying system. Wikipedia tells me that it was too complex (being a sort of RuneQuest-like) relative to the target audience and did not sell well. Flipping through, I believe it.

The interior art is all Wendy Pini’s, mostly reprinted from the comic, but with some pieces I suspect are new, which is probably a boon for fans. The box is a solid 80s Chaosium box in terms of design and materials. I just wish I was more interested in the subject matter.
