Best of The Dragon, Volume 1, is an interesting magazine. It collects articles about D&D not only from Dragon, but from The Strategic Review, the TSR magazine that preceded Dragon. It kind of works as a time capsule of OD&D’s evolution from ‘75 to ‘78, strange days as the hobby first started to define itself.  

Always loved this John Barnes cover, too. Volume 2 uses the same art with a blue tint.
