This is the fourth edition Stormbringer rulebook, from 1990.

In a much needed bit of tidying, it reorganizes the existing rules. In terms of mechanics, it mostly stays the same, but the magic system got a bit of a rework. It includes much of the material from the Stormbringer Companion (though not, oddly, Demon Magic, the second companion). The art is largely the same as well, aside of the color plates. Basically, if you’re looking to play Stormbringer, this is probably the book you want to use.

A bit of heavy metal trivia: Michael Whelan’s amazing cover art also appeared on the cover of Cirith Ungol’s album Frost and Fire in 1980, which is a rocking mix of 70s hard rock, power metal and epic doom all wrapped up in a sword and sorcery package. I dunno if I would use it to score my Stormbringer game, but it’s a pretty great listen nonetheless.
