Savage Baronies (1995) is the other half of the Savage Coast, the eastern, more human-dominated lands. This box features an Alan Pollack painting that looks unfinished to me, accompanied by a photo of a silly looking fantasy flintlock. The gun and the poet shirt and the floppy hat are pretty good guides for the overall vibe, which mixes musketeers with a whole Spain and Portugal thing with the age of piracy thing. Most of the book is dedicated to detailing the remaining lands. There’s very little in the way of new rules, though there is an adventure and a companion audio CD (no thanks, Flint Dille!).

I can’t stress how much I love the fact that this setting is like, swashbucklers, but covered with spikes because they’re mutants, squaring off against guys with slug eyes, because they are also mutants. Genuinely surprising that TSR brass let this go on so long. Also, genuinely thankful.
