Toy2 1

Northlord (1983)

Here’s Northlord the Barbarian in what I assume is Canadian packaging, judging from the French, which feels appropriate for a dude named Northlord. Northlord is one of the bigger action figures LJN produced and a good example of the level of detail in the sculpt. Look at all those accessories!

Also, our pal Warduke once again makes an appearance. He must have beef with the barbarian.

Despite Warduke, Strongheart and a couple of the toy monsters appearing in the Dungeons & Dragons Saturday morning cartoon, the toy line was only nominally connect to the animated series. None of the series’ main characters appeared as toys (I’ve seen some mini PVCs of the main characters, but never in a box, so I have no idea if they were official LJN/TSR releases). Even stranger, there was little overlap in actual D&D RPG products, with the cartoon tie-in books being aimed for children and distributed through traditional bookstores. We’ll get into that during Warduke Week, though.
