The 1978 Jove/HBJ paperback The Dunwich Horror and Others, one of two Lovecraft collections the publisher licensed from Arkham House’s 1963 collections. These editions are notable for the powerhouse cover paintings by Rowena Morrill.

In general, Rowena’s work is not to my taste. Its a little too smooth for me, more on the Boris side of the spectrum than the Frank end. But these two covers are just straight up masterpieces. I could stare at them for hours. I have, probably. So good. Astonishing.

This one depicts the titular horror, the usually invisible twin brother of Wilbur Whateley.
