I recently got this delightful Advanced Dungeons & Dragons storybook. The Forest of Enchantment is a tiny little book filled with beautiful illustrations by workhorse illustrator Earl Norem, an old pulp adventure artist who segued into working on Marvel magazines and storybooks. Y’all might recognize his work from the Wizards, Warriors and You series of pick-your-path adventure gamebooks.

At any rate, this is a pretty by the numbers children’s storybook. Kelek and Warduke, with the help of some lizard men, are attempting to steal a magical gem from a princess. It falls to Caruso the Bard (kind of an odd name) to foil their schemes, with a little help from Filaree the Druid. Foxfingers the thief also makes an appearance. The bad guys lose in the end (boooo).
