Next up is Dragon Magazine 126, with an excellent cover by Daniel R. Horne. Titled “Saving the Best for Last,” the cover notes explain that this is a ranger doing battle with a vengeful, undead frost giant she previously slayed. Her sword lost and arrows spent, she has but one elven arrow left to end the fight with.

As with most badass looking skeleton dudes of the era, I can’t help but read this one as Cauldron Born from Lloyd Alexander’s Prydain Chronicles.
