This is the Romulan Ship Recognition Manual (1985) for FASA’s Star Trek RPG. Same basic thing as the Federation and Klingon Ship Recognition Manuals, except most of the ships derive from the Bird of Prey scout design.

The Romulans are another great example of the expansive FASA canon and its problems. They appeared just three times in the original series (of the three, “Balance of Terror” is often regarded as one of the best Trek stories ever) but in the RPG, they are elevated (and expanded upon) to make them as formidable as the Klingons. FASA was on to something: The Next Generation would take a keen interest in the Romulans. Downside: that interest meant FASA’s material went out the window.
I should mention that the art in the Ship Recognition Guides, including those rad cover paintings with the cut-aways? All the work of Dana Knutson, It is pretty insane to me that all this is the design work of one man. Then again, he is also responsible for much of the concept design for Planescape, so outside the measure of mere mortals, far as I’m concerned.
